The SP5 system brings high performance laser barcode scanning technology to cell phone scanning solutions.  It combines the ease of use of a cell phone handset with the accuracy, speed and flexibility of a rugged, versatile scanner.  SP5 is a compact, powerful tool that easily integrates with your wireless Java J2ME program.

• SP5 works only on specific Nextel iDEN Motorola cell phones, and these phones operate only on the Nextel cellular Network. The models currently supported are the i355, i365, i265/275, i605/615, and Boost i415.

• The phone and scanner attached together form a single device that you can hold in one hand.  The i355 and i365 models feature a rugged leather holster with detachable swivel belt clip. The i265/275, i605/615, and Boost i415 models feature a clip-on holster design.

• The scanner system is at home in rugged environments.

• The scanner is powered directly from the phone, and requires no additional batteries.

• All models come with a wall and car charger, and the scanner can be used while the phone is plugged in to a charger.  Replacement chargers are $7.99 each, with free USPS 1st class shipping:

• The SP5 scanner is totally silent and can operate in total darkness. 

• Scanner driver software libraries are available to qualified software developers.  The SDK includes a sample J2ME application to demonstrate how to initiate and process bar code scans.

• Custom SP5 versions are available to provide tethered multiplexing with other devices, such as RFID card interrogators, Proximity card readers, and other serial devices such as portable printers; please enquire.
